Took a ladies trip with a few friends to the Big Apple! Karolyn & Tresure are friends from Ohio and Cherice is a friend of Karolyns from Peoria, AZ. The four of us spent a few days together not looking at all like tourists in New York. Here are some favorites from the trip.
These two were first-timers to NY so of course we had to get Metro Cards and experience the subway. Heading down to the depths of the NYC streets.
One evening on the subway we ended up being the only one's...had to take some pictures and practice on the pole. Nuf said!
We took a double decker bus tour. The first night it got rained out (hence the ponchos) and they just stopped the bus and kicked us all off. We had to walk back to who knows where which took us forever ... So the second attempt we got to actually complete the tour and saw some interesting sites at night~ went over the Brooklyn Bridge, through Soho, China Town, the Garment District and many other cool places. I highly recommend a bus tour. It was fun.
Ground Zero, seeing this just made all the emotions of that day surface. What a huge loss for our country. I really hope we never forget! Badges of volunteers and some that lost their lives.
Grand Central Station, very grand. This is where the train I rode into the city dropped me off.
Dylan's Candy Shoppe, very sweet~ but too expensive.
Serendipity, very serendipitious.
Place from the movie "One Fine Day". Yummerz!!!! Gotta love Frozen Hot Chocolate!
This is James, he's a local and maybe a bit loco. We went to Virgil's BBQ to get some Hush Puppies. They are yummy deep fried corn fritters that you dip in honey butter. So, we got our name on the waiting list and were sitting at some stools by the bar. James turns to us (conversation below)
James: Let me buy you ladies a drink.
Us: No thanks, we're good.
James: Oh come on, not all New Yorkers are rude.
Us: No thanks.
James: Come on, what are you drinking?
Us: Water
James : Why? What are you, Mormon?
Us: Yes!
We ended up getting into a conversation with him, his boss's wife is Mormon etc...He was actually very kind (and entertaining). He ended up buying our Hush Puppies & some BBQ wings for us. He even tried to pay our cab fair back to the hotel, but we didn't wanna waste our Metro Cards! It was fun and yes, Tresure is sending him a Pass Along card from the church!

This is in honor of all the shopping we did- H&M, Daffys, H&M, Top Shop, Little Italy, H&M, China town, the Fabric District, Century 21 & did I mention H&M because I think we went to every store they have in the NYC area.
Our Today Show experience(s). Turns out our hotel was just a few blocks from where they film the Today Show so we went a couple of times. The first morning I'm sure we were on tv but I've yet to see a Tivo'ed version.
The second time Cherice and Tresure scored some pictures with Al! Also got some with Matt {Kar's boyfriend~in her dreams}
We saw Mary Poppins the musical. It was FANTASTIC and we pain penny's to see it. Well, not really but stood in the line to get "day of" tickets and scored. The music was so fun & the effects were amazing! I would love to take my kids to see it before we leave Jersey.
We really did a lot in the short time we were there, picture over-kill prevented me from posting EVERYTHING. It was such a great break for me to just hang with the girls and not worry about anything else. Well, except for my little 5 month old that stayed home with Grandma Alice and the rest of the gang. Even though I hauled a breast pump around the entire city and pumped every 4 hours in McDonalds bathroom stauls~ it was worth it. But I was sure glad to see her~ and her me. It was like I never left. Thanks mom and E for holding the fort down while I played. And thanks ladies for a great time~ let's do it again.
