This is Mullet... Yes, Mullet. Who else would name a dog that except for my husband. His name just fit him perfectly and we all still can't forget about that crazy, out of control animal. You see, we had him for about five years and even dragged him out to Cleveland to be with us (well, my mom dragged him out). Our last year there on my birthday (Jan. 5) he got loose and he never came back. It was a cold, snowy night and Eric spent the next day searching for hours for him and never could find him. This was unusual because the times before he escaped, he always would wander back home or come when he heard his name being called. We figured that he must have got hit by a car or stollen. We never gave up and kept on looking for him, went to the police station, the animal pound and everything in between. It went weeks and nothing was discovered. Well, believe it or not, on Eric's birthday (Feb 7) so a month later a policeman knocked on our door and asked if we had lost a chocolate lab. Turns out, the night he got loose, he got hit by a car and then hobbled over and layed under a pine tree in a neighbor's yard. He must have been in so much pain and just laid there and died. It kept on snowing over and over again so no one knew he was there. It wasn't until the snow had started to melt that the home owner saw Mullet under his tree and noticed his "dog tags" and called the police. We were so sad to hear the news but at least after a month could finally put it all to rest. The unknown was so hard and now we were able to move on as hard as it was. Oh how we miss Mullet. Jacob was old enough to remember him and played with him all the time. He keeps asking me when we can get another Mullet. I tell him not until we leave New Jersey.
I still remember the day... I was outside working in the yard at our home in Midvale, UT and Eric pulled up in his car with a droopy, brown, boxed head little pup sticking his head out the window while sitting on his lap. My first thought was to get all upset at Eric for bringing home a dog that I didn't want, but couldn't be mad seeing such an adorable little chocolate lab. He was so much fun even though he pooped on my brand new pottery barn birthday rug, was SO highper and had lots of evergy, licked me all over my legs and ate SOOOO much. We sure miss him and will never be able to replace him. He was a good lookin one and we will always remember our Mullet.

OH. I love doggies. You met OAKLEY at my house. I know EVERYTHING you are talking about, the poop, the licking... THE HYPER DOGGY! I think all Labs must be alike.
Cute, cute mullet! (I love that name)
We still talk about Mullet. There was one time that he had completely licked Zack's face and had slobber dripping from his face. Zack thought it was great! We never heard what had happened to him, so sad!
Good old Mullet...labes ARE the best!
Oh I miss little Mullet baby. Too many memories of that sweet dog.
